Yeah, I'm way behind on blog posts. Sorta skipped all of Thanksgiving. And the week after. Oh well. It's that busy time of year. It was one year ago today that our power went out in the Horrible New England Ice Storm of 2008. And the lights didn't come back on for 10 days.
Here are some pics to hold you over for a few days.
Tonight, Miss Sophie and I are home alone, since K and EJ are out doing some shopping. We ate some leftover pizza, had a little "tea" party, finished baking some cookies, and watched the Grinch. Now that she's in bed, I can frost the cookies and wrap up a few gifts that need to get in the mail soon.
We decorated the tree this week. It's been standing for a while, but no ornaments.
Putting the star on top has always been EJ's job, but Sophie wanted in on the action this year.
We went to the local Santa breakfast last weekend. EJ stuck by the top two things on her list - a Wii and a pogo stick. Sophie's still asking for a (toy) pony.
This is a pretty quiet weekend for us. No big plans - hooray! That's good, because there's a lot going on next week. A chorus concert, a program at the library (a weather program, coincidentally cancelled because of Wednesday's snow storm), and a holiday party with EJ's dance class. Friday night, I'll be out at a local cookie swap with some gal pals. Next Saturday night, K and I are going out to a guitar concert. And next Sunday is the church Christmas pageant. The girls aren't in it this year. EJ's taking a year off after playing angels for many years and Mary last year, and Sophie, while she's technically old enough, would be a bit of a challenge to stand still for so long! But we're still going to go, as afterward there is a wonderful Lutheran potluck, followed by a talent show where the kids get to sing or play an instrument. EJ will do something (probably play piano or trumpet), and Sophie tells me she's going to sing, but we'll see!
One thing this weekend is the local Santa parade on Sunday afternoon. EJ might just be riding on a float for the local coffee shop! Stay tuned...
