What was I thinking?!?!

In December, my gym ran some introductory classes in Zumba, advertised as "a fusion of Latin dance and music, interval training, borrowing rhythms from global dances such as samba, tango, merengu, salsa, cha cha, and hip hop - Simple to follow, a ton of fun, and a superior calorie-burner!" Apparently, the test run was a big hit, so they put the class on the regular schedule starting today.

Sounded like fun, so I crawled out of bed this morning in time to attend. There were about 30 other people there - all of us middle-aged soccer and ballet moms and older (this demographic will be important as I continue to explain). I do believe I burned a lot of calories. Simple to follow? I don't think so...the instructor was moving so fast it was hard to see what all of her body parts were doing. And let me tell you, ALL of her body parts were moving! And, she is bilingual, so in her dancing frenzy, we weren't really sure what she was saying! A ton of fun? Yes, if you count all of the laughing we were doing at each other! No, BV, there was no basket of fruit on my head!

Back to the demographic thing...let's just say that the instructor looked and danced like pop star Shakira, while the rest of us looked like Elaine from Seinfeld:
